- Some basic networking concepts (client/server paradigm)
- What happens when I go to a web site
- What is HTML (what it is for, how it works)
- A conceptual introduction to XML
- Exploring HTML
- HTML Editing software
- Moving documents and images to the web server — (S)FTP
- Techniques for creating a whole web site.
- Intro to CSS and the content/presentation separation paradigm.
- Bring up plugins, java, quicktime, Flash
- Talk about Flash and talk about what is possible with it.
- Homework: Think of some simple character that you would like to create and animate. It may help to draw it out on paper before hand.
Day 2
- Overview of the Flash MX 2004 interface.
- Drawing in Flash
- Layers
- Vector objects
- Shapes vs. Graphics, MovieClips, and Buttons
- Drawing tools
- Animation concepts
- Timeline
- Frames
- Key frames
- Tweening
- Motion paths
- Actionscript introduction (mostly for buttons)
- Exporting your movie
- Adding a movie to HTML on a web site.
- Student's time to create a character and animate it.
